Project overview
Design and implementation of a tertiary treatment plant with a capacity of 60,000 m3/day, and the final effluent line with an external diameter of 800 mm, made of UPVC pipes, with a length of 4,200 meters. It includes three manholes made of polyethylene pipes.
Challenge
- There is a dispute during the execution on the eastern and western sides of the project’s land (belonging to the armed forces), leading to a complete halt (for a year) until a resolution is reached regarding the land area.
- There are percolation waters resulting from adjacent agricultural lands due to their elevation compared to the project’s land, causing the presence of permanent surface water. This necessitated the implementation of wells, a drainage system, and a continuous sheet piling curtain to protect the facilities in the long term.
- The presence of fiber optic cables, water lines, and sewage lines hinders the implementation of the final effluent line, in addition to the fact that the soil is saturated with water, requiring a drainage system for several parts during the line’s execution.
Result
The project serves half of Assiut city with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day and the villages of Oulad Ibrahim with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day.
